Building on pre-school knowledge of letters and sounds, K-readiness lessons help prepare students for kindergarten with a focus on letter/sound relationships; vowel emphasis; b & d confusion; phonemic awareness skills - word awareness, blending, sound isolation, syllable, rhyme, sound manipulation; sight word recognition; beginning reading; listening and reading comprehension; writing uppercase and lowercase letters; and writing in response to reading.
Through movement-based games and hands-on activities, students will acquire an array of literacy tools that they can rely upon and use as they continue to develop into motivated readers and writers. Kindergarten Readiness workshop classes are offered during the school year from September to June with open enrollment at any time and during our summer session.
