As Neighborhood Lit. delivered drive donations Monday morning, Executive Director, Kim Perrelli, of Child Care Resources (CCR) shared, “We are so inspired by the generosity of the Neighborhood Lit. and St. Catherine’s community. On behalf of Child Care Resources, and the families we serve, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
Nationwide, 1 in 3 families do not have access to clean diapers for their babies. Children without an adequate number of diaper changes are vulnerable to potential health risks, including child abuse and neglect. Furthermore, 3 in 5 parents miss work, or school, because they cannot afford enough diapers to send with their children to child care. As Perrelli explains, the families of Monmouth County are no exception, “The most recent data tell us that 4,028 children less than 5 years old, live in poverty, in Monmouth County. Currently, there are no federal or state ‘safety net’ programs that provide access to diapers. Because of this reality, we rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of our community partners, to help address this significant need. We truly could not do this without them.”
If you would like to support the ongoing efforts of CCR and the ‘Make a Change’ Diaper Drive, diapers (especially sizes 3, 4, and 5 and training pants) and wipes may be dropped off at Neighborhood Lit. in Colts Neck or the CCR office in Neptune.
